Visceral Massage For Digestion
What is Visceral Massage?
Visceral massage for digestion uses gentle techniques focusing on the abdomen. The aim is to relieve tension, improve connective tissue mobility, improve organ mobility and organ motility.
What is organ mobility?
The ability of the organs to move freely and independently within the body. This involves the movement of the organs themselves, as well as the movement of the connective tissues that surround and support them. When the connective tissues surrounding organs become restricted this interferes with an organ’s function and mobility.
Symptoms of poor organ mobility could include: Pain, discomfort, dysfunction, limited range of motion, stiffness
What is organ motility?
Organ motility is the ability of the organs to contract and relax in a coordinated way to perform their functions. For example the motility of the digestive organs helps to move food through the digestive tract and eliminate waste from the body.
Symptoms of poor organ motility can include: Constipation, diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain
Did you know digestive issues can contribute to pain elsewhere in the body?
Low back pain, neck pain, hip pain, shoulder pain, headaches, joint pain, general muscle weakness and soreness can be affected by our gut health. (Although they can be caused by numerous non-gut related reasons).
Why have a Visceral massage to help with Digestion?
Gastrointestinal inflammation has been linked directly with neuroinflammation, the gut-brain axis (GBA) is a bidirectional communication system that connects your gut and your brain. This often results in mood, energy and sleep changes. Diet, exercise, stress and sleep can affect your GBA. Stress management including massage (as well as meditation, breathwork, stretching etc) can positively affect your GBA. A digestion massage can aid in organ mobility & motility to alleviate pain, discomfort, digestive issues, stress and improve overall health.
